Facial Sculpting and Fillers

As we age, the face loses youthful volume and develops shadows and hollowing leading to a tired and weary appearance. Dermal fillers can help to reduce or eliminate wrinkles, raise scar depressions, enhance thinning of the lips, treat lip wrinkles, raise brows, erase the hollowness beneath the eyes and add volume to cheekbones or chin for a more youthful appearance.

Dr. Nawab uses a full complement of fillers to give you the look that is right for you. Each filler has similar applications but are made up of different substances, applied to different areas and last for different lengths of time. Dr. Nawab will work with you to see which treatment will give you the best results.

What are the side effects of dermal fillers?

All fillers can cause bruising, redness and swelling that can last for several days.

How long do fillers last?

Individual fillers have different time spans in our skin. The more active an area you are injecting fillers into is, the lower the life-span of the product.

How painful are treatments?

Injections can be uncomfortable; however the discomfort is very short term. A local anesthetic is either premixed into the filler or it is mixed at the time of injection to minimize the discomfort. A topical anesthetic cream can be applied 1 hour before the procedure if desired.

Are there medications that should be avoided prior to using fillers?

Medications that can increase bruising and bleeding at the injection site should be avoided for at least 1 week prior to the injections. These include Aspirin, NSAID family (Advil, Motrin, Aleve etc.), St John Wort, high doses of vitamin E, Ginko Biloba, ginseng.
